»Coma ya nos comentaba Klaus Schulze en la entrevista que le realizamos en el "Syntorama 11",
estaba buscando editor para un trabajo que tenía ya grabado junto a ANDREAS GROSSER. Ha sido el
subsello de Virgin, Venture quién lo ha hecho. Babel es lo mejor que ha hecho Schulze en muchos años. Compuesto a modo de suite, es decir con una instrumentación común para todos los temas, e hilados entre sí. Yo diferenciaría entre las dos caras del disco. Por una parte en la cara 1, que está más dedicada al ritmo, aunque siempre controlado, yo destacaría quizás, Nebuchadnezzar's Dream como su mejor tema. La cara 2 está más dedicada a dotar a las composiciones de espacialidad, dándole un aspecto mágico y cósmico. » Etrange histoire que la parution de cet album chez Venture, le label d'aventure de Virgin! Brain,
le label allemand de Schulze a trouvé ce disque trop expérimental pour être publié par leurs soins;
alors, Schulze a trouvé d'autres personnes intéressées par cet album inhabituel, et quoi de mieux
que le récent Venture! Quoiqu'il en soit, c'est avec plaisir que l'on découvre la nouvelle æuvre de
Schulze en compagine d'ANDEAS GROSSER, pianiste et synthésiste ayant collaboré avec le Dream,
ainsi qu'à la superbe compilation "Magic Age"...; une oeuvre de 59 mn, où Schulze montre qu'il
maîtrise la technologie des synthétiseurs, et où Andreas démontre ses qualités de pianiste. Un
album fort réussi dans l'ensemble, et où effectivement les dernières minutes montrent un Schulze

» Over the past few months, Venture Records have been releasing some very interesting albums
of experimental instrumental music from some of the best young and creative musical innovators
around. Set by these high standards, I find Babel a bit of a disappointment. Klaus Schulze and
ANDREAS GROSSER provide a selection of synthesized and sampled sound textures underpinned by
some rather unadventurous rhythmic pulses created on piano. Although the technology used is the
latest and best, and the sound quality is excellent; the music fails to excite. However, the cover,

» You won't hear a much better sounding album than this all year. Mostly pure electronics
(although GROSSER provides some acoustic piano) digitally recorded, clean as a new whistle. Based
on the Biblical epic tale of the builing of the Tower of Babel, it runs as a single piece for the
whole length of the disc and, in the manner of Ravel's Bolero it is perhaps best regarded as a
powerfully relentless, repetitive theme which is constantly embellished and subjected to
variations in tone colour and instrumentations. The music surges, coming in waves that approach
and recede, but with each surge the waves seem to be higher up the shore. As in the Biblical tale,
the whole structure ultimately falls apart, returning to the incoherent chaos from which it first
