Wahnfried: Drums 'n' Balls (The Gancha Dub)
Reviews |

Veen, radio, NL) |

»It begins a little strange. Well-known digital sound and drums like cannon balls. ... It's almost soul
music or - for older fans - rhythm'n'blues. It sounds strange because of digital tones, but I like it. After
a while other things join - sometimes mystery and sometimes hysteric voices... All is in steady but rocking
rhythm of black discotheque. It's incredible! I didn't note that more than a quarter of an hour had passed.
The second title suggest that the previous drums were nothing compared to this one, but the beginning
is quite gentle. ... With a nice atmosphere I went into the House of India and I heard the next surprise.
... Everybody knows Klaus Schulze is behind Wahnfried. I admit the last piece is great. All the best ideas
were taken from the previous tracks and played together in a soft atmosphere. It brought me almost an
ecstatic quarter of an hour. It's great that I can always get it again.« (A. Lason, translation from "Estrada i Studio", Poland) |

»My congratulations for Klaus Schulze! It's a wonderful CD, in an innovative style. It contains many
imaginative music. ... It will be reviewed in "Amazing Sounds" in the next week.« (J. Munshee, music journalist, Spain) |

»The "Drums..." release seems to have more coherence than the "Dosburg..." release. The cuts fit
together better. ... Walk, run, trot, hop, gambole, pace, strut, amble, stroll, wander, meander, saunter,
mosey - WUP! That is the one! This is perhaps the word which could come closest to describing what's
going on in Klaus Schulze's latest Wahnfried collaborative effort. Unlike the previous Wahnfrieds ... this
release is very much more subtle. The rhythm is still there but it's slower, gentler, even pastoral at times,
showing off the artistic talents of the co-workers. Klaus "Richard Wahnfried" Schulze does his best to
make the mix balanced, and allow the ideas of the others to come to the fore. Somehow the whole thing
just "clicks" together very well, making it an album which can be listened to over and over again without
tiring the ears. ... He has great equipment at his disposal, and he knows how to use it. The result is a
"transparency" which is not often seen [seen?] in modern recordings. A very nice album to listen to...« (T. Beuthe, Canada) |

»This is a very 'cruisey' album and much to my liking. Great disc to unwind to! [? -kdm] ...
I played the title track last Sunday night on "Ambient Zone". In the same programme I featured Dosburg Online and 'blew them away' «(D. Cooper, radio, Australia) |

»Thanks for the latest K. Schulze and Wahnfried CDs. I was very pleased with these CDs. Great
music, probably the best after Mirage. It is heavenly music and a pleasure to play in my radioshow.
Specially the Wahnfried!!!« (M. Vance, radio, Belgium) |

»...überraschende Effekte und spannende Rhythm-Sounds. Ist das etwa Seniorentechno?«
[und: 4 von 5 Sternen](S. Schroeder, "Audimax", Hamburg) |

Kein neumodischer Firlefanz also. ...
Drums 'n' Balls besitzt, was viele Ambient-Nachfahren nie gelernt haben: Tiefe ohne Effekthascherei,
Schönheit ohne Kitsch-Platitüden...« (pb, "Musik Express", D) |

»Drums 'n' Balls is great!« (O. Begué of "Rubycon", France) |

Geist gegeben.« (pb, "Berliner Zeitung") |

»You have: rave foundation E-perc, dramatic keyboards and a quantum bag
of unexpected sounds. Add poppin' bass and frequent use of vocal sample outbursts
to the overall trance tempo. [...] The melodies are a crisp fusion of dynamic and
ambient, molded in
enticiting compositions that compel while exciting. Schulze's usual style of
enduring grandeur
is peppered on this CD with a sense of playfulness, a sonic raising of
eyebrows.« (M. Howarth, comic designer, USA) |

»House of India ist eins der der schönsten Stücke, die ich seit langem gehört habe; mit seinen leichten und langen Sequenzer-Läufen erinnert es mich ein wenig an The Art of Sequencing...« (P. Stöferle, TD Fan Magazine, D) |
